My name is Jochen LEOPOLD. I was born in Pforzheim and grew up in Belgium. I love to speak different languages, French, Dutch, Spanish, Low German. Cycling is my favourite pastime. And my heart beats for goldsmithing and watchmaking, making unique, personalised wristwatches.

Life stories! We all have them and they always consist of many little stories.
When we tell our life story, we are completely with ourselves. Tell me your life story! What has shaped you? What do you love? What characterises you?

As your watchmaker, I can make your most precious stories and moments visible and bring them to life in a wristwatch.

Your watch, the memory of your personal life story.

Faruk is a passionate entrepreneur, design genius, supercars expert, engineer and family man – in short, an inspiring personality and person. After the Lifelines wristwatch received top marks at the inhorgenta Award in the category of novelty and originality, Faruk was also convinced that he wanted to wear a Lifelines wristwatch. During his visit to my workshop to take his handprint, we then took more time to create a customised design for the winding crown with ruby and gold wheel, as well as the gold screws

Christine loves animals. Especially dogs, sheep and birds. As a child, she always looked after her budgies. As a teenager, she got a tattoo of a pigeon. Harmony, family and peace are important to Christine. When designing her watch, we therefore included a dove of peace on the back cover. Clear, harmonious case lines, a gold ring and a sparkling black coloured stone: it really suits her!

At the age of 18, Adrian is in the process of discovering the world and his own talents. He has even been able to showcase his acting talent in a role in the Netflix series Lupin. The son of a stylist who grew up in Paris is also very interested in fashion and has already worked here as a catwalk model. So it is no coincidence that the Roulette wristwatch was like love at first sight for him: an unusual, powerful design, intricately detailed dial and an engraved “A03”. 2003 is the year Adrian was born.

Max and I remember each other from our time in Brussels. A lot of time has passed since then, time in which Max has developed his love of LandRovers. Fortunately for Max, his wife has also taken a liking to his automotive passion. They are often on tour together in the Porsche blue LandRover Defender. Some time ago, Max sent me an original blue LandRover body panel that he no longer needed to make the dial of his wristwatch. Now the LandRover is always and everywhere with me on my wrist!

Fascinating wristwatches are handcrafted in the Leopold watchmaker’s workshop. Jochen Leopold, 5th generation goldsmith, is responsible for this. Jochen was born in Pforzheim/Germany, the city of goldsmiths and watchmakers. His mother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather all worked there as goldsmiths, gem-setters and master jewellers. In 2013, Jochen took over his mother’s goldsmith workshop and has been making pocket watches and wristwatches in his workshop in Düsseldorf since 2016. Jochen Leopold: “I love it when women and men wear real jewellery. My first customer Horst said at the time: “Finally a real watch.” I am convinced that a handmade wristwatch can be just as unique and special as you and your life.” Jochen Leopold creates a fascinating combination of watchmaking craftsmanship and the art of goldsmithing. Mechanical movements are encased in handcrafted, special cases made from precious materials with surprising applications. Let yourself be surprised which watch creations will find their way onto your wrist.

Here is an extract from an article in the Goldschmiedezeitung from March/2022 about the LEOPOLD Lifelines watch, written by Iris Wimmer-Olbort:

His watches are as individual as their owners: the goldsmith and watchmaker Jochen Leopold from Düsseldorf produces timepieces on which the lines of the palm of the hand are depicted. The idea has to do with goldsmith and watchmaker Jochen Leopold’s birthday: his own birthday was an occasion for him to reflect and look back. This gave him the idea of visualising his personal journey through life in a watch. To symbolise the life he has lived, he chose the lines of the palm of his hand, which are just as individual as his life. Because, according to Jochen Leopold: “Some lines you have from birth, others only develop in the course of your life. This makes the palm of the hand something very unique and a visibly unmistakable feature of a person. No two hands are the same.”

These lines now adorn the dial of his watch. Jochen Leopold now also offers his customers the model entitled “lifelines”, which is customised in each case. An imprint of the palm of a hand is taken to determine the most striking lines. These are then modelled using gold wire and applied to the dial. It is housed in a 40 millimetre handcrafted sterling silver case, in which an automatic movement from ETA operates. The unique watch is delivered in a “lifelines” book with a clasp and secret compartment.

Le Créateur

” My aim in making a watch is not to tell the time. I make watches because I have a great enthusiasm for new forms of construction. It is my way of showing the beauty and inventiveness of traditional goldsmithing techniques. It is the front door to the marvellous worlds of our imagination. “
